Joining a large group, Universal pledges its commitment to helping the climate
Joining over 200 music organizations, Universal Music Publishing Group (Universal) announced its participation in the Music Climate Pact. As a signatory, the company is required to select either the Science Based Targets Initiative or the Race to Zero SME Climate Commitment, backed by the United Nations. As a member, Universal Music is now committed to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The Science Based Targets Initiative pushes each company to create carbon reduction targets that are achievable within five to 10 years while the Race to Zero SME Climate Commitment requires carbon neutral targets that are attainable over the next decade.
