Bertelsmann acquires Penguin Random House in landmark deal
On April 1, 2020, Bertelsmann Se & Co. Kgaa (Bertelsmann) announced it had completed acquiring the publishing company Penguin Random House. As part of the deal, Bertelsmann will now be Penguin Random House's new parent company and will now have full access to Penguin Random House's library of titles totaling a value of $675.0 million. With the new purchase, Bertelsmann will now grow its market share in the publishing industry as Penguin Random House had previously been a major company in this industry.
