AMC, in response to the coronavirus pandemic, closed down theatre operations on March 17, 2020, in compliance with government restrictions and recommendations. By the end of the second quarter of 2021, thanks to the easing of government restrictions and the rollout of the vaccines, AMC began reopening its theaters. Due to the pandemic, AMC experienced lower revenue for the year ending in December 2021 compared to the year ending in December 2019.
