Aegis Living settles staffing lawsuit for $16.3 million
Though the company denies any wrongdoing, Aegis Living agreed to a $16.3 million settlement in a lawsuit alleging that staffing decisions were base don budgets rather than resident needs. The two class action lawsuits, filed in California federal and Washington state courts, argued that staffing was based on predetermined budgets, and this practice violated elder abuse and consumer protection laws. Over the past decade, similar lawsuits have been settled by Emeritus Corp, Atria Senior Living and Oakmont Senior Living.
COVID|Labor|ESGIn response to volatile demand in the wake of the first COVID-19 surge, the company undertook a comprehensive cost reduction program, aimed at shoring up labor and supply costs.
